friction disc plate, also known as a clutch disc or friction plate, is a component used in a clutch system. It is typically made of a high-friction material such as organic, ceramic, or metallic materials.
The friction disc plate is located between the engine flywheel and the pressure plate in a clutch assembly. When the clutch pedal is pressed, the pressure plate releases the friction disc plate, allowing for disengagement of the engine power from the transmission.
When the clutch pedal is released, the pressure plate applies pressure to the friction disc plate, creating friction and transferring power from the engine to the transmission. This allows for smooth engagement of gears and efficient power transfer.
The friction disc plate is designed to withstand high temperatures and resist wear and tear. However, over time, it can become worn or damaged due to excessive heat, aggressive driving, or poor maintenance. In such cases, the friction disc plate may need to be replaced to ensure proper clutch operation.
