Functionality: The master cylinder is the primary component of the hydraulic brake system. It converts the mechanical force applied to the brake pedal into hydraulic pressure.
Operation: When the brake pedal is pressed, the master cylinder's piston moves, pressurizing the brake fluid. This pressure is then transmitted through the brake lines to the wheel cylinders (or brake calipers in disc brake systems).
Maintenance: Regularly check the master cylinder for brake fluid leaks, ensure the proper brake fluid level, and inspect the condition of seals and gaskets.
