São Paulo, one of the largest metropolises in the world, is poised to make a significant leap in its transport infrastructure with the completion of Subway Line 17 Gold. Designed to connect strategic areas of the city, this monorail line promises to revolutionize how São Paulo residents travel, bridging Congonhas Airport to the Morumbi neighborhood while passing through the Jardim Vila Olímpia sports complex and Morumbi stadium.
Construction of Line 17 began in 2012, but it has faced numerous challenges over the years, including financial, political, and technical issues. Initially, it was set to be completed before the 2014 World Cup, but due to delays and revisions in the project, the timeline has undergone significant modifications. Its strategic importance in alleviating congestion on the city’s main thoroughfares and providing a fast and efficient transportation option for millions justifies the ongoing efforts to complete it.
Unlike traditional systems, the choice of the monorail for Line 17 Gold not only reduces environmental impact but also optimizes urban space. With high-tech technology, this system promises to enhance connectivity and comfort for passengers, making the journey between key destinations, such as Congonhas Airport and the Morumbi complex, a fluid and efficient experience.
The Mongel company, with over 40 years of expertise in the cargo handling market, was responsible for several stages of the project, utilizing SANY All-Terrain Cranes. These cranes played a crucial role in the movement of heavy materials, installation of structures, and assembly of fundamental components of the subway line.
The SANY All-Terrain Cranes used in this service included the SAC7000S with a lifting capacity of 700 tons, the SAC6000C8 with a capacity of 600 tons, and the SAC2500S with a capacity of 250 tons. Each crane stood out for its exceptional capabilities: the SAC7000S boasts a 90.1 m boom, a 50 m fixed boom, and a 90 m oscillating boom; the SAC6000C8 features a double motor system and a self-erecting truss super lift device; and the SAC2500S has an impressive maximum lifting height of 110.1 m.
In addition to cranes, the project also benefited from various construction machinery, such as backhoe loaders, compact wheel loaders, and mini wheel loaders, which contributed to the efficient handling of materials on site. The integration of electric excavators and mini excavators further streamlined operations, showcasing the commitment to sustainability in urban development.
